Abandoned Job Applications Rate
Discover what the abandoned job application rate means in recruitment, how it measures incomplete applications, and tips to optimize workflows - Jisr Glossary.
What is the Abandoned Job Applications Rate?
The Abandoned Job Applications Rate is a human resources metric that calculates the percentage of job applications that applicants did not complete. When job seekers begin filling out a job application at a company through an Applicant Tracking System (ATS), they may leave the page at some point, and the application process is not completed.
The Abandoned Job Applications Rate is calculated by dividing the total number of individuals who applied for a job opening by the total number of individuals who started filling out the form, then multiplying the result by 100 to obtain the rate as a percentage. Some research indicates that more than 60% of applicants do not complete the application.
This metric provides the company with important information about the level of interest in its job openings and the ease of use and design of the job application form. If the company finds that this rate is higher than average, it may need to revise these forms to make them shorter and easier to complete.
