The workplace injury policy clarifies the injured employee or family financial benefits that are entitled in different cases (temporary disability, permanent disability, total disability, partial disability, death).

Upon recovery, the workmen compensation policy guarantees an employee's right to return to work after providing medical clearance, whether to his current position or to an alternative one.

                    FAQ

What are the actions to be taken when an injury occurs in the workplace?

When a workplace injury occurs, immediate action is crucial. First, prioritize the injured employee's care, providing first aid or seeking medical help. Next, promptly notify management with incident details. Secure the scene to prevent further risks and ensure accurate reporting. Complete a detailed incident report within 24 hours, and notify GOSI within three working days as mentioned in workplace injury & compensation policy, for compliance and efficient claims processing. Subsequently, analyze the incident to implement or reinforce safety protocols and provide necessary training. For longer recoveries, establish a supportive return-to-work program. Finally, maintain compassionate communication with the employee, demonstrating care and facilitating their reintegration into the team.

What is an injury in the workplace?

A workplace injury is any harm, be it physical injury or illness, that arises directly from work-related activities. This encompasses accidents happening at the worksite, during travel for work purposes, or any incident that has a clear connection to the employee's job duties. This can extend to injuries sustained during reasonable activities integral to the workday, such as taking breaks for meals or prayer. It signifies an adverse health condition resulting from the work environment or the tasks performed, highlighting the importance of workplace safety and preventive measures.

What is injury prevention in the workplace?

Workplace injury prevention is a proactive risk management approach aimed at minimizing work-related injuries and illnesses. It goes beyond simply establishing safety policies and processes; it emphasizes ensuring these are understood, consistently followed, and effectively reduces actual risks. Cultivating an organizational culture that prioritizes safety is crucial. Preventing injuries is vital for ethical reasons and Saudi Labor law compliance. Understanding and addressing specific business risks and fostering a safety-conscious mindset among all employees are key to successful injury prevention.

Who must pay workplace injury compensation?

The responsibility for compensating an employee for a work-related injury rests with the current employer and any prior employers the employee worked for, according to Saudi Labor Law. The medical report must substantiate this liability. Each employer contribution is determined by the employee's service period with him.

How is workplace injury compensation calculated?

Workplace injury compensation is calculated differently depending on the severity of the injury: 1) Permanent Total Disability or Death: The injured person (or their eligible beneficiaries) is entitled to compensation equal to three years of their wages, with a minimum compensation of 54,000 SAR. 2) Permanent Partial Disability: The injured person receives compensation calculated by taking the percentage of the estimated disability and multiplying it by the compensation amount for total permanent disability (which, as stated above, is three years of wages with a minimum of 54,000 SAR).
