Position: Interpreter (Oromo, Amharic and Tigray)
Job location: Aden & Mukalla

 

Position description/ key responsibilities:

 

1. Provide written and oral translation to and from one or more languages such as (Oromo, Amharic and Tigray) including translating documents, letters, and emails submitted by refugees and asylum seekers, as well as any other information relevant to the organization.
2. Assist organization staff by translating individual interviews, meetings, and workshops conducted with refugees and asylum seekers.
3. Translating content from the original languages (Oromo, Amharic and Tigray) ​​into Arabic or English languages while maintaining meaning and context.
4. Review translated texts to ensure they are free from linguistic and spelling errors.
5. Provide verbal interpretation, including simultaneous or consecutive interpretation during meetings or conferences.
6. Maintain strict confidentiality and refrain from disclosing any information related to beneficiaries.
7. Understand cultural differences between languages and ensure translations are culturally and contextually appropriate.Top of Form

Position requirements

·        A high school degree

·        Strong experience working in protection in refugee contexts.

·        Demonstrable experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with different sectoral Knowledge of the area of responsibility and understanding of local communities and customary rules.
