The difference of Berlitz from others:
Method-based language training
Millions of satisfied language students worldwide cannot be wrong – the Berlitz Method®, exclusively offered by us, allows students to acquire languages in a more vivid and, more importantly, more efficient manner.
The main characteristic of this ‘natural approach’ is the emphasis on lively dialogue in
the target language. It goes without saying that grammar cannot be left out entirely.
However, as Berlitz training means that all in-class communication takes place in the
target language, grammatical rules are learned intuitively first, prior to any explanation.
At a glance: the seven fundamental principles of the Berlitz Method®:
• Consistent communication in the target language
• No translation
• Native-speaking instructors
• Active involvement of all participants
• Adequate progression
• Positively worded correction
• Inductive teaching of grammar
The core advantages can also be summarised in seven points:
• Focus on active speaking
• Maximum practical relevance
• Target-oriented lessons based on latest educational findings
• Learner autonomy
• All types of learning are addressed
• Greatest efficiency in speed and sustainability
• Consistent guidance through the learning process
Our Berlitz instructors:
as part of our quality assurance and in order to ensure that your language training is of the highest quality, Berlitz only recruits native-speaking instructors, specially trained and with experience, who will help students to speedily improve towards their desired language outcome. Some highlights of how we recruit instructors:
• A local Assessment Centre ensures the careful selection of suitable instructors and
guarantees their quality.
• New instructors receive intensive training prior to taking up teaching (Teaching At Berlitz Initial
Training). In this course, they are trained in the Berlitz Method, made familiar with the
teaching materials and techniques as well as classroom management.
• All of our instructors have a university degree and/or a background in industry with xperience in the further education sector together with certificates in foreign language teaching are further additional qualifications.
• Every training program is implemented by a ‘core instructor’, assisted by further instructors if required.
The Local Instructional Supervisor of each Berlitz Centre regularly conducts quality and ensures a continuous process of professional development with regards teaching methods.
Whether at a Berlitz center or at the client premise, Berlitz instructors deliver lessons using
the Berlitz Method® and facilitate the achievement of language goals. In order to ensure this at all times, Berlitz instructors are exclusively native speakers, specially trained and experienced – making them an integral part of the promise of quality made to clients and course participants. In achieving this, Berlitz has the following approach:
• Recruitment locally and abroad
• Instructors with intercultural know‐how
• Predominantly with a business background
