JOB DESCRIPTION – PRODUCTION MANAGER

Job Title: Production Manager

A. Job Purpose

Responsible for managing and controlling all LSAW pipe production activities to achieve production targets safely, efficiently, and according to approved manufacturing procedures, API 5L, customer requirements, and company quality standards.

B. Role & Responsibilities

1. Production Operations

• Manage daily LSAW production operations and ensure continuous and balanced production flow.
• Ensure achievement of daily, weekly, and monthly production targets according to approved schedules.
• Monitor production performance, productivity, capacity, WIP, downtime, rejection, rework, and material utilization.
• Identify production bottlenecks and operational problems and ensure timely corrective actions.

2. LSAW Manufacturing Process

• Control the overall manufacturing process including plate preparation, edge milling, forming, tack welding, internal/external SAW, expansion, hydrotesting, finishing, and pipe end preparation.
• Ensure manufacturing activities are performed according to approved procedures, process parameters, and production requirements.
• Maintain proper production flow between manufacturing stages and minimize unnecessary WIP and delays.
• Ensure product identification and material traceability are maintained throughout production.

3. Production Planning & Resources

• Coordinate with Planning to establish production priorities according to customer orders and delivery schedules.
• Ensure availability and efficient utilization of manpower, machines, raw materials, tooling, and production consumables.
• Monitor actual production against planned quantities and establish recovery plans when delays occur.
• Coordinate material requirements with Warehouse, Procurement, and other relevant departments.

4. Quality & Customer Requirements

• Ensure production activities comply with API 5L, approved manufacturing procedures, and applicable customer requirements.
• Coordinate with QC regarding inspections, NCRs, welding defects, repairs, and corrective actions.
• Support production requirements related to Saudi Aramco projects and other major customers.
• Ensure non-conforming products are properly controlled and not processed without required disposition.

5. Equipment & Maintenance

• Coordinate with Maintenance to ensure maximum availability and reliability of production equipment.
• Monitor breakdowns and downtime and prioritize maintenance requirements according to production needs.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance and planned shutdown activities to minimize production interruption.
• Participate in resolving recurring equipment problems affecting productivity or product quality.

6. HSE

• Ensure production activities comply with company HSE policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
• Identify and control production-related hazards and unsafe operating conditions.
• Ensure good housekeeping and safe working practices throughout production areas.
• Coordinate with HSE regarding incidents, investigations, and required corrective actions.

7. Team Management

• Manage Production Engineers, Supervisors, Foremen, Operators, Helpers, and other production personnel.
• Allocate manpower according to shifts, production priorities, and operational requirements.
• Monitor employee performance, productivity, discipline, and competency.
• Identify training requirements and participate in recruitment and technical evaluation of production personnel.

8. Reporting & Improvement

• Prepare and review production reports covering output, efficiency, downtime, rejection, rework, WIP, and manpower utilization.
• Conduct regular production meetings and report significant production issues to the Plant Manager.
• Analyze production KPIs and implement improvements to increase productivity and reduce manufacturing losses.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to production efficiency, process stability, and cost reduction.

C. Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Production Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of manufacturing/production experience, preferably with at least 5 years in a managerial or senior supervisory role.
• Previous experience in LSAW steel pipe manufacturing is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of API 5L, LSAW manufacturing processes, SAW welding, production planning, and manufacturing operations.
• Previous experience with Saudi Aramco projects or requirements is highly preferred.
• Experience managing large production teams in heavy industrial or steel manufacturing environments.
• Good knowledge of Quality, HSE, ISO systems, and continuous improvement practices.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, coordination, and English communication skills.

E. Accountability & Authority

• Accountable to the Plant Manager for production performance, efficiency, safety, quality, and achievement of production targets.
• Authorized to manage production manpower, resources, priorities, and daily operational activities within the assigned area.
• Authorized to stop production where serious safety, quality, or equipment risks exist and request immediate corrective action.
• Responsible for reporting significant production delays, operational risks, resource shortages, and performance issues to the Plant Manager.
• Responsible for performing any additional production-related duties assigned by the Plant Manager or Management.
