Job Purpose

To carry out powder coating on valves and hydrants components by following standard procedures and safety guidelines, ensuring good surface finish, uniform coverage, adherence to specified thickness and meeting quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Surface Preparation (Shot Blasting): 

• Operate shot blasting machines to clean and prepare metal surfaces.
• Ensure proper surface profile is achieved as per specification (e.g., SA 2.5). 
• Inspect blasted surfaces for cleanliness, rust, or contaminants before coating. 
• Maintain and clean shot blasting equipment and replace media as needed.

Coating Application: 

• Perform masking and preheating before coating as required. 
• Apply powder coating using manual spray guns in accordance with specifications.
• Maintain consistent spray pattern, uniform coating coverage and specified dry film thickness.
• Monitor curing process and oven settings for optimal results.

Quality Control: 

• Inspect coated surfaces for defects like pinholes, sags, or uneven thickness. 
• Perform the coating thickness, adhesion, holiday test by using standard tools.
• Perform touch-ups or rework if coating defects are identified.

Equipment Maintenance: 

• Clean and maintain powder coating equipment, spray guns, and booths regularly. 

• Replace filters, nozzles, and powder feed components as needed. 
• Report any equipment issues or maintenance requirements.

Safety Compliance:

• Follow all safety protocols including use of PPE, grounding systems, and proper handling of powder materials. 
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment. 
• Comply with company safety and environmental policies.

Documentation & Reporting: 

• Record daily activities, Powder usage, and machine performance. 
• Communicate status updates to the coating supervisor. 
• Follow the production schedules and meet daily output targets.

Training and Improvement: 

• Support continuous improvement initiatives for better productivity and coating quality. 

Participate in training and skill upgrades related to coating standards (e.g., Aramco).

Qualifications & Experience:

Education: - High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:

·         Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in wet coating applications in an industrial/manufacturing setup 

·         Proven experience in handling powder coating equipment.

·         Prior work with industrial valves. 

·         Experience in working with inspection teams and following coating specifications. 

Specialized Knowledge / Skills

·         Hands-on experience in powder coating applications.

·         Skilled in operating and maintaining powder coating equipment. 

·         Knowledge of surface preparation techniques such as shot blasting. 

·         Understanding of pre-heating, curing cycles, and temperature controls. 

·         Ability to identify and troubleshoot coating defects (E.g ,Uneven DFT). 

·         Capable of following technical data sheets (TDS) and standard operating procedures. 

·         Understanding of coating thickness measurement (DFT) and inspection methods. 

·         Knowledge of safety practices and environmental regulations in coating operations. 

·         Applicator Certification in powder coating.
